Palatine Police Blotter: Purses Stolen From Locked Vehicles

Four Moneygram orders valued at $523.90 were stolen from the pants pocket of the victim while eating at a Subway restaurant in Wal-Mart, 1555 N. Rand Road sometime between 12:10 p.m. and 12:40 p.m.

Hernando Henderson, 45, of Palatine, was charged with DUI, no front license plate and improper lane usage after a traffic stop at Rand and Frontage roads after a traffic stop at 11:45 p.m.

A 2007 Ford Escape was burglarized sometime between June 29 at 11 a.m. and noon in the 1200 block of East Anderson Drive. The passenger side window was smashed and taken was a black purse valued at $30, $100 in cash, a driver’s license and Social Security card. The car was locked and the purse was left on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle.

Lawrence V. Gust, 23, of Palatine, was charged with disobeying a red light, improper lane usage and DUI after a traffic stop at Colfax and Quentin roads at 2:38 a.m.

July 2, 2012

A 2002 GMC Yukon was burglarized sometime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Birchwood Pool, 435 W. Illinois Ave. The rear passenger window was smashed and taken was a grey Brighton purse valued at $300, $400 in cash, miscellaneous credit cards, a driver’s license and social security card. The car was locked and the purse was left on the floor of the passenger side of the vehicle.

A 2005 Toyota Camry was burglarized sometime between July 2 at 7 p.m. and July 3 at 7:30 a.m. in the 500 block of E. Carpenter Drive. Taken was a pair of Coach prescription sunglasses valued at $500. The victim is unsure if the vehicle was locked.
