Palatine Police Blotter: Officer Kicked in Shin

The following was taken from Palatine police reports.

March 9

Maria E. Baron, 60, of Vernon Hills, was charged with retail theft, resisting arrest and battery after an incident at 3:22 p.m. at T. J. Maxx, 1311 N. Rand Rd. Baron allegedly filled a trash bag with two pairs of shoes and some bed linens, went to customer service, and returned the items. Police said Baron received a customer gift card and used it to buy $87 worth of merchandise. Police said that Baron resisted arrest and kicked an officer in the shin.

Isidoro Venegas, 20, Palatine was charged with burglary to motor vehicle and criminal trespass to vehicle. The incident occurred at about 2:04 a.m. Police were called to the 100 block of Dundee Quarter after an individual was seen in the parking lot pulling on door handles. Police said Venegas was found with four $1 bills and a car key that was not his.

Joshua Rodriguez, 24, Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis after a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Rand Road. Officers said they found 2.5 grams of marijuana in the center console.

March 13

A burglary to motor vehicle occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Panorama Drive. A purse valued at $25 containing various personal and financial cards was taken from an unlocked beige 1993 Toyota Camry.
