Palatine Police Blotter: Home Burglarized, DUI, Windows Smashed

The Palatine Police Department's arrest blotter through Nov. 17, 2013.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Palatine Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Residential Burglary

  • Between 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 10 and 8 p.m. Nov. 17, an unknown offender(s) committed residential burglary in the 900 block of S. Elm Street. The point of entry is believed to be the front door, which was pried with a tool. Numerous areas of the home were disrupted and ransacked. It is unknown at this time what types of items were taken.

DUI

  • Mariarenee Grajeda, 21, of the 1700 block of west Chariot Ct., Mt. Prospect, was arrested at 1:15 a.m. Nov. 17 at westbound Dundee Road from N. Hicks Road. Charges included DUI, BAC over .08, improper lane ssage, illegal transportation of alcohol (driver), operation of vehicle with registration suspended, and no valid drivers license (over 1 year expired).


Criminal Damage to Vehicle

  • Between 4 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 8:11 a.m. on Nov. 17, an unknown offender(s) smashed out several vehicle windows in the 1500 block of N. Winslowe Drive. The vehicles were a 2000 Pontiac (driver window shattered), and a 1998 Honda (driver window and front right passenger window shattered). The cars are owned by two separate parties and were parked adjacent to one another. The total damage amount is unknown.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

  • Between 7:30 a.m. and 8:25 a.m. on Nov. 14, an unknown offender(s) entered the victim’s 2011 Jeep in the parking lot of the Buehler YMCA at 1400 E. Northwest Highway. Taken was a brown leather purse containing a black wallet with $50, credit cards and drivers license. It is unknown whether the vehicle was locked. There were no signs of forced entry.
  • On Nov. 12, an unknown offender(s) entered an unlocked 2001 Jeep in the 900 block of W. Panorama Drive. Taken was the victim’s book bag containing textbooks and a checkbook.
