Palatine Police Blotter: Attempted Liquor Store Burglary, DUI, Theft

The Palatine Police Department's arrest blotter through Dec. 15.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Palatine Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Attempted Liquor Store Burglary
  • At approximately 3:50 a.m. on Dec. 12, an unknown offender smashed the front window of the Twin Lakes Liquors at 305 S. Rohlwing Rd. The offender then attempted to access an ATM machine’s safe with brute force, but was unsuccessful. It is unknown what the total loss amount is for the window and the damage to the ATM machine. Nothing is believed to be taken, and this case remains under investigation.

DUI

  • Kramer A. Herrera, 21, of the 300 block of Rimini, was arrested at 4:15 a.m. on Dec. 15 at southbound Hicks Road at the 1200 block N. Hicks Road. Charges include DUI, improper lane usage and BAC over .08.
  • James P. Dunn, 23, of the 200 block of E. Williams Drive, was arrested at 4:10 a.m. on Dec. 8 at eastbound Cunningham at N. Hicks Road. Charges include DUI, uninsured motor vehicle, no drivers license on person and disobeyed red light.

Retail Theft

  • Eleazar G. Mozo, 31, of the 1500 block of Silver Lane, was arrested for retail theft on Dec. 10 at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road. Loss prevention observed Mozo place a cell phone charger, razor knife, and razor blades (all unknown value) into his pockets and pass the last point of sale without payment.

Theft

  • Between 7:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, an unknown offender gained access to a locked locker in the men’s locker room at the Buehler YMCA, 1400 W. Northwest Highway and removed an iPhone and $500 cash. There was no observable damage to the padlock.
  • Between 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 and 8 a.m. on Dec. 14, an unknown offender(s) removed two white lighted reindeer decorations from the front lawn of a home in the 400 block of W. Willow Wood Drive. The total value of the decorations is $60.
