Palatine Police Blotter: Christmas Eve Burglary

The following information was provided by the Palatine Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 18

Two vehicles were burglarized from the same home in the 0-100 block of E. Colfax Street sometime between 8 p.m. Dec. 18 and 1:30 p.m. Dec. 19. Taken in the incident were two GPS units with a value of $220 and an iPod nano valued at $150.

A 1998 Chevy Silverado had its windshield smashed in the 1300 block of N. Ports O Call. The incident occurred sometime between 8 p.m. Dec. 20 and 1 p.m. Dec. 22.

Dec. 21

A door to a garage was found ajar at , 455 N. Benton St. The incident occurred sometime between 4:20 p.m. Dec. 21 and 11:14 a.m. Dec. 22. A locking mechanism was taken but nothing appeared to have been taken from the garage.

Dec. 21

A home and vehicle were damaged in the 1100 block of E. Azalea Lane sometime between 9 p.m. Dec. 21 and 9 a.m. Dec. 22. A living room window of the residence was broken. Also, the hood of a 1996 Toyota Corolla had several scratches in it.

Dec. 21

A silver 2001 Dodge Durango was burglarized sometime between 10 p.m. Dec. 21 and 8:51 p.m. Dec. 26 in the 400 block of N. Easy St. Among the items taken was a GPS unit valued at $100.

Dec. 22

Andrew M. Funke, 40, of Palatine was charged with DUI, DUI blood alcohol level above .08 and improper lane usage after a traffic stop at 1:54 a.m. at the intersection of Northwest Highway and Palatine Road.

Dec. 24

A home in the 400 block of W. Helen Road was burglarized sometime between 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and 12:15 a.m. Christmas Day. The resident returned home to find the side door of the home forced open. The three bedrooms in the house were ransacked. Taken from the home was an Apple iMac, wireless keyboard, and a mouse valued at $1,700 and a stainless steel Concord watch valued at $750. Various items of jewelry also were taken.

Dec. 24

A bicycle was stolen from at 45 S. Plum Grove Road between 4:35 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. The bike was placed upside down while its owner entered the store. When he came out it was gone. The bike was a customized Verde Theory BMX bike. The frame of the bike was aqua blue. It was valued at $1,182.

Dec. 24

A maroon 2004 Jeep Liberty was burglarized sometime between 4 a.m. and 4:10 p.m. in the 100 block of E. Palatine Road. Taken from the vehicle was $135, a $20 Gamestop gift card and a $20 Lane Bryant gift card.
