Palatine Police Blotter: Busted Beer Bottles At Walgreens

The following information was provided by the Palatine Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Feb. 17

A 1999 Oldsmobile was burglarized sometime between 9 p.m. Feb. 17 and 8 a.m. Feb. 22 in the 1200 block of N. Jack Pine Court. Taken from the unlocked vehicle which was parked in driveway was a Garmin GPS unit valued at $300.

Manuel Garcia, 47, of Vernon Hills, was charged with local ordinance retail theft after an incident at 8:30 p.m. at , 1555 N. Rand Road. Garcia concealed various CDs and eye makeup in his clothes and left without paying. The items were valued at $80.23.

A 2000 Toyota was burglarized sometime between 9 p.m. Feb. 21 and 8 a.m. Feb. 22 in the 1300 block of N. Portage Avenue. The vehicle was unlocked and parked in a driveway at the time. Taken was a universal phone charger, gift cards, a radar detector and $10 in quarters.

Feb. 21

A 2008 Hyundai was burglarized in the 1600 block of W. Edgewater Lane sometime between 10 p.m. Feb. 21 and 7:39 a.m. Feb. 22. Taken from the vehicle was an iPod, Bose headphones and a utility knife.

Feb. 23

Bence Boros, 26, of Palatine, was charged with DUI, driving a vehicle while license suspended, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash. The incident occurred near Rand Road and Dundee Road.

Feb. 25

Hassan Mahmood, 27, of Palatine, was charged with knowingly damaging property and disorderly conduct. Mahmood was in , 12 N. Northwest Highway at 1:09 p.m. when he began shattering bottles of beer by throwing them on the floor. Mahmood smashed four bottles near the pharmacy area.

Feb. 25

Anthony James Parbs, 29, of Arlington Heights, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft after an incident at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road. Parbs went to the self-checkout lane and paid for boxer shorts and then placed a Bluetooth headset in the bag without paying for it. The item was valued at $79.97.

Feb. 26

Martin Maasik, 28, of Carpentersville, was charged with local ordinance retail theft after an incident at 3:20 p.m. at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road. Maasik concealed a torque wrench valued at $28.94 in his jacket and passed the last point of sale without paying.
