Palatine Police Blotter: Home Burglary Nets $51,000 In Valuables

The following information was provided by the Palatine Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 13

A 1998 Honda Civic had is front driver's side window smashed sometime between 9:30 p.m. Dec. 13 and 7:15 a.m. Dec. 14. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Driftwood Avenue. Taken was an iPod valued at $200 and a Garmin GPS unit valued at $230. The vehicle was parked on the street.

A black 2011 Kia Sportage had is driver's side window smashed sometime between 10:30 p.m. Dec. 13 and 9:15 a.m. Dec. 14. The vehicle was parked in a driveway in the 1500 block of E. Baronet Lane. Taken from the vehicle was a Garmin GPS unit valued at $200.

A 1996 Porsche had its passenger side window shattered sometime between 10:45 p.m. Dec. 13 and 12:42 a.m. Dec. 14. The window was valued at $500. Taken from the vehicle was a radar detector valued at $200 and a flashlight valued at $6.

Dec. 13

A home in the 900 block of E. Lilly Lane was burglarized sometime between 11:10 a.m. Dec. 13 and 12:02 p.m. Dec. 13. Police said the burglars entered through a basement laundry room window. The double pane window was shattered. The burglars left through the home's rear sliding glass door. Taken from the home was a 55-inch, flat screen Sony Bravia LCD TV, a 23-inch flat screen LCD TV, and a Dell laptop computer.

Dec. 15

Two homes were burglarized in the 900 block of W. Hidden Hill Lane. In the first incident burglars forced open a rear kitchen window and left through the rear sliding glass door. Taken from the home was a Montblanc pen valued at $250, a Longines men's gold watch valued at $15,000 and a Longines women's gold watch valued at $12,000.

A sailboat figurine was taken valued at $400 and a Cartier watch valued at $4,000.

Also taken were custom made buttons similar to cufflinks. Four sets of the buttons were taken and each set was valued at $5,000 for a total of $20,000. Police checked on a neighboring house while investigating the burglary and discovered that another home had been broken into. In that incident the front door was pried open, but police do not believe that anything was taken.

Dec. 17

Ashley L. Moore, 21, of Carpentersville, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft. Moore placed about $113 worth of items in her bag and left Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Rd., without paying.
