Palatine Man Injured In Apartment Fire

A Palatine man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center with burns following a an early morning apartment fire.

One man was injured in an apartment building fire that began around 1 a.m. in the 1900 block of N. Green Lane North.

Palatine Police officers were the first on the scene and assisted residents in evacuating the building, a press release from the fire department states. One adult male suffered burn injuries and was taken to Northwest Community Hospital and later was transferred to Loyola University Medical Center.

Palatine firefighters could see heavy smoke from an open second floor balcony sliding door of the six-unit building when they arrived. The fire was under control by about 1:22 a.m., the press release states.

Palatine was assisted by the Arlington Heights Fire Department.

Palatine Neighborhood services determined the building was uninhabitable. Fire officials stated that fire damage was confined to a rear stairwell, but several of the apartments sustained heavy smoke damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
