Palatine Fire Department Fights Garage Fire Early Saturday

A Saturday morning fire occurred in a garage in Palatine, but firefighters were able to bring it quickly under control.

The Palatine Fire Department responded to a reported garage fire in at 656 S. Warren Avenue early Saturday.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:47 a.m., according to a Palatine Fire Department press release, and saw heavy smoke coming from the 1.5 story, 2.5 car detached garage.

According to the release, the fire was under control by 9:57 a.m., when extensive salvage activities were performed due to the large amount of storage the owners had in the garage.

No injuries were sustained, and damage estimates were not immediately available, the release stated. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In addition to Palatine Fire Department, Arlington Heights units also responded resulting from an automatic aid agreement. Long Grove Fire Department assisted by covering the Palatine Fire Station the emergency responders came from, and Palatine Police also assisted at the scene with traffic and crowd control.

The Palatine Fire Department wants to remind residents to be aware of materials stored in garages that may be flammable or combustible, the release stated.
