Palatine Crime: Passport, Toiletries Taken; Window Broken

Retail Theft
Barbara K, Melcher, 50, of the 800 block of Carriage Lane, was charged Oct. 3, with retail theft after police said she placed toothpaste and two bottles of perfume totaling $31.26 into her purse and passing the last point of purchase at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road.
Rocio Alvarez-Gomez, 31, of the 0 to 100 block of Dundee Quarter, was charged Oct. 7, with retail theft at Walmart, 1555 N. Rand Road. Police said she placed a health care product valued at $14.98 and did not pay for it while checking out and paying for other items.
Driving Under the Influence
Patrick G. Lyons, 27, of the 0 to 100 block of S. Evergreen, was charged at 1:57 a.m., Oct. 5, with improper turn, driving under the influence, BAC over .08 and speeding in the 200 block of E. Palatine Road.

Criminal Damage to Vehicle
Some time between 7 and 8 a.m., Oct. 4, someone threw a large rock through the rear window of a Chevrolet sedan as it was parked in the 1800 block of Iris Dr.
Burglary to Motor Vehicle
At approximately 4:27 p.m., Oct. 4, a victim reported that his passport was taken from his unlocked Chrysler van while it was parked in front of the Palatine Public Library, 700 N. Court.
