Palatine Crime: Burglary, Bicycle Thefts

The Palatine Police Department releases crime alerts weekly, and asks for the public's help by reporting information you may have confidentially.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Some time between 7 p.m., Sept. 17 and 8 a.m., Sept. 18, unknown subjects entered two white 1995 Chevy trucks in a secured parking area of Colfax Storage, 509 W. Colfax St. Taken from the trucks were two Alpine stereos and a Stihl chainsaw, with a total value of $1,050. There were no signs of forced entry on the vehicle.

 

THEFT

Some time between 4 p.m., Sept. 16, and 7 a.m., Sept. 17, at 221 E. Lake Cook Road, unknown offenders took 2 spools of wire, valued at $1600, from a building under construction.

Some time between 1 p.m., Sept. 20 and 11 a.m., Sept. 21, 0 in the 200 south block of Park Lane, an unknown offender took a silver Next mountain bike with an unknown value from a condo building underground parking garage. 

Some time between 8 a.m., Sept. 20, and 1 p.m., Sept. 22, in the 200 south block of Park Lane, an unknown offender took the victim’s black Trek mountain bike from a condo building underground parking garage. The bike was not secured at the time of the theft.

Some time between 2:30 and 5 p.m., Sept. 21, in the parking lot of TJMaxx, 679 E. Dundee Road, a Black Diamondback BMX bicycle, valued at $250, was taken by unknown offender. The owner reported that the bike was secured to a traffic sign with a cable lock in front of the store, and when they returned, the bike and cable were missing.

Some time between 9 p.m., Sept. 21, and 2:54 p.m., Sept. 22, at a bike rack in the 100 west block of Colfax Street, the front and rear detachable lights, valued at $25, were taken from a bicycle.

At 4:33 p.m., Sept. 22, in the 1300 north block of Baldwin Court, two juveniles were charged with theft of a bicycle. The victim said the bicycle was left unsecured in the hallway of an apartment building when it was taken.
