Palatine Commemorates September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks

A Patriot Day ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 11 at the Firefighters Memorial at Brockway and Slade streets.

Palatine will once again pay homage to those who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The Patriot Day Ceremony will include Palatine Fire Department members and those how have retired, accompanied by the fire and police department Honor Guards. Firefighter Jeb Kaiser will be playing the bagpipes to commemorate the solemn anniversary.

As part of the ceremony, the United States flag will be lowered and a wreath placed on the memorial, in addition to the ceremonial ringing of the bell which symbolizes a firefighter’s last call to duty.

The ceremony will be held at the corner of N. Brockway and W. Slade streets  at the Palatine Firefighters Memorial beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 11.
