Palatine Blotter: Home Burglary Investigated

The following information was taken from Palatine police reports:

Feb. 28

Brandon A. Moreno, 18, and Carlos Lopez, 18, both of Rolling Meadows were charged with possession of cannabis after a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. Plum Grove Road. Police said Moreno had about 6 grams and Lopez had about 1.5 grams. Lopez also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

A residential burglary occurred sometime between 3:26 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. in the 400 block of W. Rosiland Drive. The resident returned home to find the back sliding glass door of the home open. Taken from the residence was a portable DVD player, a Waterford Crystal bowl, a Sony digital camera, a Sony digital video recorder, a Raymond Weil watch valued at $2,000, and a jewelry box.

Steven Penfold, 19, of Palatine was charged with possession of cannabis. Police encountered Penfold in the 900 block of N. Countryside Drive. Police said they found 66 grams.

March 4

A white 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan was reported stolen in the 700 block of E. Rand Grove. The vehicle was taken sometime between 7:30 p.m. March 4 and 11:30 a.m. March 5.

March 5

A retail theft occurred between 10:33 p.m. and 10:58 p.m. at Jewel-Osco, 423 E. Dundee Rd. A woman entered the store, took two cases of Modelo beer and left without paying. The beer was valued at about $53. The woman got in a dark colored sedan and fled the area.

March 6

A burglary to motor vehicle occurred between 4 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. at Metra station downtown, 137 W. Wood St. The victim went into Starbucks and when the individual returned found that the car had been burglarized. Taken from the black 2007 Honda Civic was the vehicle's insurance card. Also taken as a pullover sweater valued at about $100.
