Gym Locker Ransacked, Stolen Textbooks, Diapers and Make-Up

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A victim reported their 1999 Nissan Ultima was burgled in the 1300 block of Inverrary Lane o Nov. 7 between 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. The items taken were an ashtray full of change, a mathematics textbook, psychology textbook and a Texas Instruments TI-84 scientific calculator. All of the stole items together are valued at $355. The victim reported to police he believed the vehicle was locked. 

Criminal Damage and Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Two vehicles were broken into and items were taken on Nov. 12 between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. at A+DaySchool, 865 N. Sterling Ave. The first car, a 2010 Honda Civic 4-door, had the driver’s side front window shattered, and taken was a black diaper bag containing diapers, paperwork and and Illinois drivers license. The other car, a 2009 Honda Accord, had the passenger side front window shattered, and taken was a purple wallet containing various credit cards, and Illinois drivers license and the victim's social security card.

Theft

A victim who was working out at World Gym, 1546 E. Dundee Rd. on Nov. 8 between 12:30 p.m and 1:30 p.m. reported to police someone stole a men’s black leather wallet, his Illinos driver's license, a U.S. military ID, several credit cards, $80 in U.S. currency and an iPhone 3. The victim stated he had locked the locker with a Master Lock combination padlock. Police belive the unknown suspect may have cut the lock to gain entry. 

Retail Theft

Rebekka K. Laxner, 27, of the 200 block of W. Giddings St., Chicago, was charged with retail theft for attempting to steal a number of items on Nov. 10 at WalMart, 1555 N. Rand Rd. Laxner reportedly took items off the shelf, placed them in her purse and walked out of the store. Among the stolen items were bears slippers, cosmetic powder, two acne medicines, a jewelry trinket, brow liners and a cosmetic pencil. The value of the items is estimated at $55. 

Driving Under the Influence

Gail L. Manz, 48, of the 5500 block of N. Cumberland Ave., Chicago, was stopped by police for not having taillights in the 1100 block of eastbound Palatine Rd on Nov. 8 at 12:54 a.m. When police stopped her, an odor of alcohol was observed and it was determined she had blood alcohol content of  more than .08. Manz was charged with driving under the influence.
