Palatine Arrests Included in Sheriff's Gun, Revoked FOID Cards Sweep

The Cook County Sheriff worked in conjunction with a number of area police departments on a community safety initiative this week.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department conducted a community safety initiative this week, resulting in the arrests of 11 people on warrants for DUI, theft and battery, in addition to recovering guns and resolving revoked FOID card cases.

The sweep was conducted in Palatine, Arlington Heights, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg and surrounding areas, a press release from the Cook County Sheriff's Department states.

On Tuesday, a .45 caliber gun, 9 millimeter hand gun and three valid Firearm Owner Identification (FOID) cards were recovered. Five revoked FOID cards were recovered as well, according to the release.

The Sheriff's Central Warrant Unit arrested 11 people Wednesday on warrants for DUI, battery and theft.

The graffiti unit within the Cook County Sheriff's Department cleaned up 47 locations - 19 in Rolling Meadows, 12 in Schaumburg, nine in Palatine, five in Elgin and two in Hanover Park on Thursday, the release stated.

Police Departments from Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg and Elgin worked with the Cook County Sheriff's Department, along with the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The community safety initiatives are part of an ongoing efforts of the sheriff's department to provide support to suburban communities which to helps to address and combat crime, according to the release.
