Palatine Apartment Building Struck By Lightning

Palatine firefighters responded to a lightning strike Friday, July 29 in the 1200 block of E. Inverrary.

An apartment building in the 1200 block of E. Inverrary was struck by lightning Friday, July 29 causing minor damage.

The Palatine Fire Department responded to the call at about 9 a.m. Firefighters found smoke throughout the attic of the building, but no fire. Firefighters ventilated the roof and contained smoke damage to the attic area, a press release from the fire department states.

A damaged area of the roof was identified as having been directly struck by lightning. All of the building's apartment units were still habitable. Palatine fire officials estimated the damage to the attic and roof to be about $5,000. No one was injured.
