One-Car Accident in Residential Area Sends Palatine Woman to Hospital

A Friday morning traffic collision occurred in the 600 block of Clark Drive. A 34-year-old resident, driving alone, veered off the roadway, hit a light pole and then a tree.

Palatine Police are currently investigating an early Friday accident involving a female driver veering off the road in a residential area, who then hit a light pole and finally smashed into a tree, where the car came to rest.

Commander Mike Seebacher with Palatine Police said the accident occurred at 8:04 a.m. Friday, in the 600 block of Clark Drive, near the intersection of Plate Drive.

The driver, a 34-year-old female Palatine resident whose name is not being released, was driving her 1998 Dodge Durango, and for an unknown reason, drifted off the right side of the roadway, Seebacher said.

The woman then hit a light pole, causing damage to it, and finally struck a tree where the vehicle came to rest.

The Palatine Fire Department assisted at the scene, Seebacher said, and had to use extra equipment to remove the woman from SUV due to severe damage to the vehicle. The air bag was deployed due to the accident.

The woman was alone in the vehicle and conscious at the time of the accident. She was tranported by ambulance to Lutheran General Hospital.

Seebacher said tests are currently underway to determine if there are any internal injuries, and if drug or alcohol played a part in the accident, as is common procedure with all accident investigations.

The case of the accident remains under investigation.
