LIttle City Worker Sexually Assaulted In Bathroom

A resident at Little City was charged with criminal sexual assault after police say he attacked a staff worker at the group home for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department said Eddie Blue, 16, of the 1600 block of Little City Drive in Palatine, is charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault.

The incident occurred Sept. 12. Cook County Sheriff investigators said Blue forced a 30-year-old staff worker into a bathroom, choked her, tore her clothes off, and sexually assaulted her.

Police said the woman said she fought back at first but stopped resisting when she became fearful she would be killed. Blue eventually let the woman go and she went for help.

Blue was monitored by other staff members until police arrived.

Little City Communications Associate Sally Blake responded to an e-mail from Patch with the following statement, "We want justice for our employee and in the disabilities world, all of our children and adults are individuals just like you and me. The actions of one, are the actions of one.  But any person who commits a crime will be subject to our criminal system."

Blake stated that this was an isolated incident.

Little City stated that the resident was a ward of the state and did not release his name. However, the Cook County Sheriff's Department did release Blue's name and mugshot because he was charged as an adult.

Blue and the woman were transported to the Palatine Fire Department to Northwest Community Hospital, where they were treated and released.

Sheriff's police said Blue suffers form mild mental retardation and other mental health disorders. He had no history of violence at the home.

Detectives conducted numerous interviews with staff members and with Blue on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13, charging Blue with aggravated criminal sexual assault late Tuesday. Blue was charged as an adult.

Bond for Blue has been set at $100,000. His next court date is Oct. 5 in Rolling Meadows.
