Lightning Strike Causes Fire On King Arthur Court

A home in the 100 block of King Arthur Court caught fire Sunday and sustained moderate damage.

No one was injured after a home in the 100 block of King Arthur Court caught fire after a lightning strike.

The Palatine Fire Department said the blaze began at about 3:14 p.m. Sunday in the attic of the home. Firefighters were on the scene within five minutes of receiving the call and reported that flames were coming from the two story, single family home.

The fire was under control by 3:24 p.m. Palatine fire officials said the damage was contained to the roof and attic of the home and that despite some water damage remained habitable. After the fire a board up service was called to secure the exterior of the home to prevent further water damage from rain.

The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District also responded to the fire and assisted in getting it under control.
