Fundraiser for Local Firefighter Battling Stage 4 Cancer

Firefighter Mike Solberg, the son of Palatine Councilman Greg Solberg, was recently sworn into the Schaumburg Fire Department. Just weeks ago he was diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer. A fundraiser is being held to assist him, his wife and young daught

In October, Mike Solberg, the son of Palatine Village Councilman Greg Solberg, realized his dreams and was sworn into the Schaumburg Fire Department. And just a couple of weeks ago, the young firefighter who lives in Park Ridge, learned he has stage 4 brain cancer.

A fundraiser will be held by his fellow firefighters this coming Sunday.

"We just wanted to help out our brother, we wanted to help his family and no one should go through this alone," said Jeanine Kubalewski, a Schaumburg firefighter who volunteered to help organize the event.
