Former Teacher in Northwest Suburbs Charged With Sexual Assault of Student

Kenneth Martin, who went by Kenneth Whitney while working at Mount Prospect High School was arrested Monday.

A former choir director at Mount Prospect High School has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegations that he maintained two sexual relationships with students while teaching at Chicago Christian High School in Palos Heights in 2009, according to the Daily Herald. 

Kenneth Martin, 34, of the 1500 block of West 83rd Place in Chicago, went by the name of Kenneth Whitney when working at both Mount Prospect and Chicago Christian high schools, according to the Daily Herald.

He was arrested Monday and a Cook County judge set his bond at $100,000 on Tuesday, according to the article.

The Northwest Herald is reporting that Martin also worked at Crystal Lake South High School under the name, Kenneth Whitney. Martin served as choir director at South from fall 2003 to spring 2005, the NWH reports.

District 155 has no reports of any inappropriate relationships between Martin and students at South, communications director Jeffrey Puma told the NWH.
