Former Cook County Assessor's Clerk Accused of Fraud

Dionne Cooper worked 16 years in the assessor's office, according to the Daily Herald.

A 43-year-old former Cook County Assessor's office clerk is accused of submitting fraudulent tax refund requests and splitting around $112,000 in illegal refunds with a co-conspirator, according to the Daily Herald. 

Dionne Cooper of Hazel Crest was charged with theft of government property and official misconduct for her role in the scheme that officials said took place between October 2009 and April 2012, according to the Daily Herald.
