Palatine Man Killed in Schaumburg Traffic Crash

A severe traffic accident occurred Friday, Dec. 3 in Schaumburg at Woodfield and West Frontage roads. The crash involved one fatality and two injuries.

A Palatine resident was killed Friday Dec. 3 in a traffic crash in Schaumburg.

Schaumburg Police Sgt. John Nebl said that Robert Manley, 61, of Palatine, was driving a 4-door Chevy Malibu east on Woodfield Road at West Frontage Road when the crash occurred. A black BMW SUV driven by a 51-year-old woman traveling on West Frontage Road impacted the Chevy's driver's door. Manley was trapped inside the vehicle, Schaumburg police said.

The Schaumburg Fire Department freed Manley and he was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. He was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m.

A female passenger in the Chevy and the female driver of the BMW were taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

The Traffic Crash Reconstruction team and the Schaumburg Police Department Traffic Unit are investigating the cause of the collision. The intersection of Woodfield and West Frontage roads was closed for several hours after the crash.
