Fatal Crash In Palatine Under Investigation

One person was killed in a three vehicle crash in Palatine Friday.

A man was killed and two people injured in a three vehicle crash Friday at Euclid Avenue and Quentin Road.

Steve L. Banks, 32, of Mount Prospect was traveling west in a 2004 Chevy Impala on Euclid Avenue at 5:56 a.m. when he ran a red light and entered the intersection, Palatine Police said.

Banks' vehicle was struck by a 2001 Chevy van which was traveling south on Quentin Road and had a greenlight. Police said the impact sent Banks car careening into the eastbound lane of Euclid where it hit a 2004 Saab.

The Palatine Fire Department said Banks had to be extricated from his car and was transported to Northwest Community Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Palatine Police said that Banks was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The Chevy van was driven by a 69 year-old man from Lake Village and the Saab was driven by a 59 year-old woman from Hoffman Estates. Both were treated at the scene for minor injuries, Palatine Police said.
