Driver Crashes into Funeral Procession, Two Taken to Hospital

Traffic was rerouted Friday after a four-car accident at 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Lake-Cook and Buffalo Grove roads.

Two people were hospitalized and roads were shut down Friday morning after a driver collided with a funeral procession at the intersection of Lake-Cook and Buffalo Grove roads.

A man driving a Honda CRV, heading north on Buffalo Grove Road, crashed into a Toyota Camry that was in the middle of a funeral procession headed west on Lake-Cook Road, Buffalo Grove Police Cpl. Tom Dattilo said. 

“After those two collided, the CRV continued north and collided with two cards stopped in traffic, going southbound,” Dattilo said.

A passenger in the Honda CRV and one of the drivers stopped on southbound Buffalo Grove Road were transported to Northwest Community Hospital, he said, and added that their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Buffalo Grove police shut down westbound Lake-Cook and southbound Buffalo Grove Road from about 11:15 to 11:50 a.m. “All four of the cars were towed due to damage,” Dattilo said.

The driver of the Honda CRV was ticketed for interfering with a funeral procession, Dattilo said.
