Bond Set in Arlington Heights Murder

A 19-year-old Arlington Heights man charged with murdering his father during a robbery is being held without bond.

Police allege that Mathew G. Nellessen enlisted the help of three Chicago men to rob his father, 55-year-old George W. Nellessen in his home at 1031 N. Wilshire Lane in Arlington Heights.

Police said that George Nellessen sustained head and neck trauma and died as a result. An individual called police at about 8:45 a.m. April 14 to report finding Nellessen. The caller also said a that family member had left the residence abruptly and gave a description of the departing vehicle.

The vehicle, a tan Mercury Grand Marquis was spotted by a Schaumburg police officer on Algonquin Road. Police said Mathew Nellessen was driving and refused to stop. Police pursued the vehicle into and out of the parking lot of Harper College and then headed west on Algonquin Road.

The chase ended in East Dundee with Mathew Nellessen's arrest.

Police said that after a lengthy investigation they determined that Mathew Nellessen planned to rob his father and that his father was murdered during the robbery.

Also charged with armed robbery and first degree murder are Marlon L. Green, 20, Armon Braden, 20, and Azari Braden, 19, all of Chicago.

Nellessen is being held on no bond. Green's bond was set at $3 million, Armon Braden's bond has been set at $2 million and Azari Braden's has been set at $1.5 million.
