UPDATED: Autopsy Results on Dead Barrington Infant Inconclusive; Parents Under DCFS Investigation

The results of an autopsy for 8-month-old Mya Edwards, of Barrington, are still under investigation. The baby girl was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon after police and fire were called to the home.

The parents of baby Mya Edwards, who was found dead in her Barrington home Wednesday, are reportedly being investigated for allegations of neglect by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), according to the Barrington Courier-Review. The article also reports that Mya Edwards was a twin, and her sister is being cared for under a DCFS Monitored Safety Plan.

The results of an autopsy conducted Thursday at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office on 8-month-old Mya Edwards, who was pronounced dead at her home in the 10 block of South Hager Ave. in Barrington shortly after noon on Wednesday, "are still under investigation pending further toxicology and medical testing," according to a Barrington Police Department press release.

The additional tests should take approximately 6-8 weeks.

Barrington police and fire departments were called to the home at about 12:07 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, in response to a call of a deceased individual. A death investigation was subsequently initiated with the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team and is on-going.

Police are releasing no further information at this time. Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
