Arrest Made in Palatine Booze Thefts

An Arlington Heights man allegedly took more than $2,000 worth of booze and groceries from Palatine grocery stores.

An Arlington Heights man allegedly took more than $2,000 worth of liquor and groceries from Palatine Dominick's stores over the past month.

Krystian G. Binkowski, 22, has been charged with felony retail theft.

Police said that the thefts began on Nov. 18 at the Dominick's Finer Foods store, 615 E. Dundee Rd., at about 8:45 p.m. A man entered the store, loaded a cart with about $804 worth of liquor and walked out. The theft was captured on video.

On Dec. 16, the same individual entered the Dominick's at 720 W. Euclid Ave. and loaded a cart with about $314 worth of food and liquor - primarily Jameson's Irish Whiskey and Ketel One vodka. The individual left the store without paying. The incident occurred at about 7 p.m. and was captured on video. Police said that witnesses were able to write the individual's license plate down.

While police were looking for Binkowski, police received a 911 call at about 9 p.m. from the Dominick's on 615 E. Dundee Rd. Police said Binkowski had been detained there after allegedly filling a shopping cart with $1,238 worth of food and liquor and attempting to leave.

Binkowski's bond was set at $15,000 and his next court date is Jan. 7.
