15-year-old Hit Trying To Cross Northwest Highway

A 15-year-old boy was hit by a truck while trying to cross Northwest Highway Monday afternoon.

A 15-year-old boy was transported to Northwest Community Hospital after being struck by a 2002 Ford truck while attempting to cross Northwest Highway Monday, June 13.

The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m., said Palatine Police Cmdr. Kurt Schroeder.

The boy was crossing Northwest Highway on his bike near Glencoe Street from east to west. The Ford was southbound on Northwest Highway. Schroeder said the boy was struck by the Ford and knocked into a 2007 Chevy Impala that was northbound on Northwest Highway.

Schroeder said the boy was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, but the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Schroeder said that no traffic citations have been issued in the incident, but it remains under investigation.
