"Breakfast at Tiffany's" Fashion Show and Luncheon To Benefit Local Counseling Center for Pregnancy Help and Education

Fashionable and Fantastic! On Friday, October 11, 2013, Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity, PHD, will host its annual Fashion Show to support the programs and services it provides to women who are pregnant or parenting children under the age of three. Based in Inverness, PHD has provided counseling, support services and baby and maternity closet services to families in the community since 1971.

“This event is a great way for us to engage women in the community,” says Catherine E. Vincus, PHD’s Executive Director. “Many of our clients are limited financially and lack a support system to help them navigate through pregnancy and early childhood parenting. We hope the women who attend the event will relate to their struggles and help support our mission.”

This year’s theme was inspired by the charity work of the great Audrey Hepburn to improve the lives of millions of families around the world. Liz Noe, Director of Major Events at PHD explains, “PHD’s work reflects Audrey Hepburn’s spirit and we know she would be thrilled with our tribute and enjoy the fashion show.  The timing of show, 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, is also perfect for those who may have children in school and are looking for a few hours to get away and enjoy themselves.”

One of the highlights of the Fashion Show will be Project Runway Finalist, Peach Carr, who will be a guest at the luncheon as well as a featured designer on the runway.

The fashion show will be held at the Stonegate Conference and Banquet Centre in Hoffman Estates. Guests can mingle, shop PHD Resale Boutique, bid on silent auction items or take their chance at the variety of the exquisite raffle baskets. The runway show, produced by Tracey Tarantino of Zzazz Productions, will feature the newest lines from Starr Couture, York Furriers and other fashionable stores and boutiques. PHD representatives are encouraging guests to take advantage of early holiday shopping.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of our guests,” says Vincus. “Every dollar that comes in makes a difference in the lives of women and their families, as well as the thousands of adolescents who have been exposed to our Motivate Prevention Programs.  All the money raised at our events enables PHD to continue to offer these valuable programs and services to our clients.”

Tickets to Breakfast at Tiffany’s cost $70 per person and include lunch and a yummy Mimosa!  Raffle tickets are $25, or five for $100. By purchasing raffle tickets, you are entering for a chance to win two cash prizes: first prize - $1000, second prize - $500. Winner need not be present to win. Guests who arrive before 10:45 am will also receive three free basket raffle tickets. For information on the fashion show or to buy tickets, visit www.sphd.org or call 847-359-4967 x25.

Proceeds of the event will benefit PHD, a counseling center for pregnancy help and education. Founded over 35 years ago, PHD offers comprehensive counseling, case management and baby closet services to women who are pregnant or parenting a child age three or younger. Counseling programs include pregnancy and decision-making, pregnancy planning, grief and loss counseling, post adoption and post abortion counseling. Women also have access to a variety of community based referrals, pregnancy testing, childbirth preparation, postpartum depression support and parenting education. Motivate Prevention services include programs for adolescents and parents addressing issues on healthy sexual relationships and character development. In 2012 PHD Motivate Prevention Programs reached out to over 7,000 adolescents and parents.
