Creekside Elementary School in Elgin brought 96 3rd graders to Orbit Skate Center to learn the physics of Roller Skating this week. Designed by a retired physics teacher, Roger Wampach and Sandra Levin from Orbit Skate Center took a program that been developed years ago and brought it into the current day and called it Newton Knew IT!.
Tailored towards elementary age children, Mr. Wampach engages the students with hands on experiments on and off skates. Each student receives a workbook and the program meets Illinois Performance Descriptors. The teachers loved the program and the students learned, had lunch and free skate time after the program.
