Palatine Children's Chorus to Host the Children of Uganda Tour of Light

Palatine Children's Chorus is pleased to welcome Children of Uganda (COU) and their Tour of Light music and dance troupe to Palatine onTuesday, February 4 at 7:00pm. Through rapid rhythms, quicksilver movements, commanding drums, haunting flutes, funny folktales and sweet songs of joy, COU's Tour of Light performances capture the rich culture of Uganda. In addition to special performances by the performers of COU, the Treble, Intermezzo, Concert and Honors Choirs from PCC will be performing. PCC is also pleased to welcome the choir from St. Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights for a guest performance. The concert will be held in Palatine Park District's historic Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine, IL 60067.

Children of Uganda (COU) has captured hearts across the nation with many successful tours since 1996. The Tour of Light music and dance troupe has been honored to perform at AIDS benefits chaired by Elizabeth Taylor and Magic Johnson, for Grammy Week's MusiCares benefit honoring U2's Bono, as well as on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Sharon Osbourne Show." Other highlights include performances at the White House, the TED conference, Googleplex and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

While major performances in the past have been thrilling, COU's greatest love is for cultural exchange programs at churches, schools, universities and community centers. At the heart of the 2014 Tour of Light's mission will be to inspire young Americans to make a difference in the world ~ most notably, in the lives of Uganda's future generation.

The music and dance troupe, comprised of 18 children and teens along with their young adult leaders, are ambassadors for Uganda's estimated 8 million orphaned and vulnerable children (OVCs). Together, they will promote global awareness of the HIV/AIDS crisis and help raise funds for fellow OVCs in their homeland.

Nearly 100% of ticket sales will directly benefit Children of Uganda. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased in person or by phone through the Cutting Hall Box Office, 150 E. Wood Street from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, Wednesday through Saturday. Tickets can also be purchased 24 hours a day at www.cuttinghall.org; online convenience fees apply.
