Palatine Children's Chorus Offers Free Welcome Nights

Palatine Children’s Chorus, a program of the Palatine Park District, is offering two free Welcome Nights in January. These evenings offer children and their parents an opportunity to meet program staff and learn more about Palatine Children’s Chorus and its individual choirs. Welcome Nights are being held on Monday, January 6 at 6:30pm and on Wednesday, January 8 at 6:00pm at the Palatine Park District Community Center, Rooms 1B and 1C, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine, IL.

Welcome Nights are for children ages 8 and older with their parents. All children who attend a welcome night will be placed in the choir where they will be most comfortable and successful. Choirs for children ages 8 and up include Treble Choir, Intermezzo Choir, Concert Choir and Honors Choir. Younger children who are ages 4-7 may register for the Sing with Me and Do Re Mi programs at www.palatineparks.org. Winter rehearsals for the choirs will begin the week of January 13 on Mondays for older singers and on Wednesdays for younger singers.

The Palatine Children's Chorus was founded in 1987 by Judy Meyer Hays and since then has become one of the Chicago area’s premiere children's choruses. Supported by the Palatine Park District, the PCC program has grown to include children as young as 4 and as old as 18 in 6 individual choirs led by 6 adult staff. Under Artistic Director Susan Falbo’s leadership (1994-2012), Concert and Honors choirs began touring in 1997, experiencing cultures and music as far east as Vienna and as far west as Hawaii. During the 25th “Dare to Dream” anniversary year, PCC focused on new goals and opportunities for all of the program’s singers, even the youngest participants, and rededicated the program’s energy to the mission of giving children enthusiastic, energetic music education and outstanding performance opportunities. New Artistic Director Rachel Rosellini, a former PCC singer, is continuing that dedication to nurture in each singer the confidence, satisfaction, and joy music brings.

The mission of Palatine Park District is to provide a variety of safe, enjoyable and affordable parks and recreation facilities and activities that will enhance the quality of life by promoting good health and well- being for all residents and visitors of the Palatine Park District.
