Sports: They’re Not Just For Kids at Palatine Park District

Palatine Park District provides a wide array of athletic leagues and programs - just for adults. Register today and get out and play!

It’s a busy week in Palatine for sports for our kids, which makes a lot of adults want to get back in the game.  Palatine Park District provides a wide variety of athletic options for adults throughout the year.  In the next few weeks, several leagues are starting at Falcon Park, Palatine Park District’s award winning recreation center located at 2195 N. Hicks Road in Palatine.

Soccer is one of the biggest sports in the Northwest Suburbs, and it’s not just for kids!  Watching all those games should give you the desire to get out on the turf too.  The Men’s Open Soccer League begins June 7 with eight regular season games, plus playoffs for the top four teams in the league.  All games are played 7 on 7 on the indoor turf at Falcon Park on Thursdays between 9:15pm and 11:30pm, and on Fridays between 8:30pm and 11:30pm. In addition to the open men’s league, there is a Men’s 30 and Over Soccer League on Wednesday evenings, and a Co-ed Adult Soccer League with games played on Sunday nights.

Prefer to play a sport with a net?  Our Adult Co-ed Volleyball League is offered for those 18 and over with three divisions:  Competitive A, Competitive B, and Recreational.  The competitive level is for those teams who understand the game and would like to compete at a higher level.  The recreational division is for those teams looking to just get out and enjoy a fun, relaxed game. Games are played on Friday evenings between 7:00pm and 10:00pm at Falcon Park beginning June 1.

If you’ve always had the skills, but didn’t quite get the height needed to fully showcase your talent, the Men’s 6 Foot and Under Basketball League could be just the ticket.  Men ages 18 and over, who are 6 feet tall or shorter are eligible to play in this league.  Games will be played on Sunday mornings from 9:00am to noon beginning June 24.  A captain’s meeting will be held June 10.

For the women who like to hit the ball field, the park district offers a 12” Softball League – Just 4 Moms in association with Salt Creek Park District.  The league is open to moms ages 30 to 55 who want to have fun, meet new friends, and get in a game of softball.  Registration is now open to new teams. Games are played on Mondays and Thursdays between 5:45pm and 7:30pm beginning June 18 at Twin Lakes Recreation Area.

In addition to these adult leagues, Palatine Park District offers many additional athletic options for adults.  Hit the tennis courts with one of several programs including Adult Quick Start Tennis, Cardio Tennis, Tennis Camps and Adult Tennis Leagues beginning in June. Running programs are offered in conjunction with area high schools; the Early Bird Running Program meets at Palatine High School and the Road Warriors hit the streets at Fremd High School.  The Palatine Hills Golf Course is open seven days per week offering 18 holes of driving, chipping and putting opportunities, and if you are looking for something a little different, how about Archery, Tae Kwon Do, Fencing, Budo Aikijutsu or Boxing?
