40 Parks in 40 Days - Plum Grove Reservoir

40 Parks in 40 Days is a series highlighting the parks of the Palatine Park District. Additional photos of our 40 Parks in 40 Days series can be found at www.facebook.com/palatineparks.

Plum Grove Reservoir is 44.46 acres of open land located on Algonquin Road at the South end of Harper College. In 1981, the Park District entered into a lease with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District for 36 acres, and into a lease with Harper College for 8.46 acres. In 1986, an OSLAD grant was received from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for development of the park. Facilities include a playground, a 20’ X 36’ shelter, and an accessible fishing pier. The annual Fishing Derby is held here in the Spring. From Plum Grove Reservoir, direct connections are available to the Palatine Trail, the Algonquin Road Trail, and the Schaumburg Trail.
