40 Parks in 40 Days - Eagle Park

40 Parks in 40 Days is a series highlighting the parks of the Palatine Park District. Additional photos of our 40 Parks in 40 Days series can be found at www.facebook.com/palatineparks.

Eagle Park is located at 1425 N. Oak Street in Palatine, at the intersection of Oak Street and Home Avenue. The 5.98 acre piece of land was purchased in 1975 for $35,000. Half of the purchase price was covered by an Oslad Grant awarded by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The park includes a playground, a 16’ X 24’ shelter, one softball/baseball field, and four tennis courts. The Eagle Preschool building is also located at this site, offering a certified preschool program during the year, and camps in the summer months.

Just north of the park is Eagle Pool which originally opened in 1976. In 2012, a complete reconstruction of pool facilities and the preschool building took place. The newly designed pool has an enlarged zero depth tot pool with alligator slide and bubblers. The main pool has one 3-meter diving board, two 1-meter diving boards and a mid-size slide. The construction included a newly designed ADA bathhouse, admissions breezeway, offices, concessions area, and landscaped area.
