Washington deadlock

Lawmakers in Washington came together to fund the government, delay a law that is increasingly unpopular and has clearly shown that it is not ready for implementation, and made sure that members of Congress don't get any special exemptions and are treated the same as everyone else under that same law. Sounds pretty good right? Well you've guessed it, the law is the Affordable Care Act and while the House and my own Congressman, Peter Roskam, voted for and passed bills that included these policies, the Senate refuses to bring them to a vote and support them. On top of that, the House even passed a number of bills to fund critical government programs once we went into the government shutdown, but the Senate refuses to take these up either.
My thanks go out to Congressman Roskam who is ready and willing to work through the stalemate and negotiate. Hopefully the Senate and the President come to the table ready and willing to dialogue to get our country moving forward.
