Do You Feel Rushed Through the Holidays?

It seems at every turn, we are gently pushed to plan further and further ahead for the holidays. Is this a helpful reminder, or just plain pushy?

Occasionally, I'll weigh in on issues that make me wonder if others are having the same experience as I am. In this opinion piece, it's the question of if we are rushed through the hoilday season.

Don't get me wrong, I love the holidays....from Halloween, to Thanksgiving to Christmas, just as much as the next gal, or guy, but do you ever feel like we're being rushed through them?

Once school is back in session, it's game on!

Halloween costumes and decorations soon follow school-start, just as we're all taking a deep breath and realizing that summer has come and gone once again.

And before we're handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters, Thanksgiving items are scattered about the aisles at our favorite shopping destinations.

We're reminded to start planning for that family gathering at our house, or to be sure to find a great side dish or dessert to bring along to the turkey celebration we will be guests at.

And don't get me started on Christmas!

The trees, ornaments, jolly old St. Nick and holly are all in full sight, even before those costumes and all that candy is on sale for half price!

The catalogs are arriving in the mailbox so the kids can know what to ask for from Santa, and the sugar plum fairies are dancing on every endcap.

I know we all must plan ahead, we all lead busy lives. But sometimes, I want to just take a break before being pushed right into the next holiday in progression, and enjoy the one that is still right in front of me.

So, what do you think? Do you feel rushed through the holiday season?
