Victor Edward Hebert, 80

Services are scheduled for Victor Edward Hebert, 80.

Victor Edward Hebert passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2012 at 80 years of age with his loving family at his side.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and servant and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.  Married to the love of his life, Eleanor, for 52 years.  Loving father of Ralph Hebert (Kim), Michele Rice (Brent), James Hebert (Melissa), Maureen Jensen (Tab), and John Hebert. Treasured Grandpa to Chase, Cory, Calli, Austin, Alisha, Quin, Dominique, Tyler, Shae and Brett. Great Grandfather to Colton.

Victor was a graduate of Assumption College in 1949. After training in Regina, Saskatchewan, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1953. In 1955, he joined the Windsor Police force for a few years before becoming an insurance adjustor in Windsor, Ontario.  He eventually became an insurance adjustor for American Casualty Insurance in Detroit, Michigan before moving to the United States where he became a naturalized citizen.

In 1970, he was appointed Show Director for Recreational Vehicle Institute of America for 5 years before accepting the position of Vice President of R.V.I.A . In 1976, he became an independent agent for the Farmers Insurance Group opening his own business, Hebert’s Insurance Agency. He retired in 2004.

He enjoyed spending time with his family at Rondeau Park in Windsor, playing Nerf wars with his grandchildren, tinkering in the garage, making his famous spaghetti sauce, and watching his Chicago Cubs whenever he could.  His greatest passion was enjoying time with his family and friends.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 North Northwest Highway, Palatine from 4-8 p.m.  Victor will lie in state Friday April 20, at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, 1201 East Anderson Drive, Palatine from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 2 p.m.  Interment will be private.
