Robert L. Wheat, Former D211 Art Department Chairman

Services have been scheduled for long-time Palatine resident Robert L. Wheat.

Prayers for Robert L. Wheat, 80, of Palatine for 47 years, will be said at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine, and proceeding to St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, 1201 E. Anderson Dr., Palatine, IL 60074, for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel, Palatine.

The visitation will be held Sunday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert was born Aug. 24, 1932 in Edwardsville, Ill., and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Northwest Community Hospital, in Arlington Heights.

Robert was an art teacher and chairman of the Art Dept. for Dist. 211. He loved gardening, cooking, reading and watching his grandkids play sports.

Survivors include his children, Craig (Christine) Wheat and Laura (Tim) Peek; grandchildren, Maggie, Zachary, and Jackson Wheat, and Aidan Peek; sister, Virginia (James) Evans; and sister-in-law, Sally Wheat.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ann T. (nee Trares) Wheat; parents, Raymond and Margaret (nee Eberhart) Wheat; sister, Eleanor (Raymond) Schaake, Leroy Wheat, Raymond (Faye) Wheat.
