Richard J. “Dick” Tobin, 70

A funeral Mass for Dick Tobin will be held on Monday, March 19 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Church, 729 Grand Canyon Street, Hoffman Estates.  Interment will follow at , Palatine.  Visitation will be on Sunday March 18 from 3-8 p.m. at the , 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.  Visitation will also be held at the church on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass.

Dick was born on June 8, 1941 the son of the late James F. and Anna Catherine (nee O’Neill) Tobin. He went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 13 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Dick will be remembered as having a great love and zest for life, a positive attitude and a contagious sense of humor. He was a sports enthusiast having a passion for all sports. Dick spent much of his free time ice skating, roller blading, playing tennis and raquetball.  Most recently he was a successful, highly regarded commercial Realtor. Dick had served in the U.S. Marine Reserve’s during the Vietnam era. Most important in his life was the love that he had for his family.

Survived by his beloved wife Dorie Ballati; loving children Cathy (Tom) Prokop, Richard (Julie) Tobin, Jr. and Michael (Jennifer) Tobin; cherished grandchildren Margaret Elizabeth, Joseph Allan, Andrew Michael, Sarah Margaret, Kelly Margaret, Anna Catherine and Jeffrey James; dear siblings Monica (Bill) Kearns, Martha (Edward) Frauenheim, James (Colleen) Tobin, Michael (Dorothea) Tobin, Paul (Barbara) Tobin, Peter (Patricia) Tobin and Mary (Andrew) Hartnett; also survived by many, many nieces and nephews.
