Palatine Police Blotter: Stolen Bacardi Spiced Rum, Baby Food

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A victim reported that sometime between Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 8 a.m. a black 2011 Buick sedan was burglarized in the 1600 W. block of Sherwood Ct. The car was reportedly parked in the driveway, and no evidence of forced entry was found. Taken was a silver iPod from the console.

A victim reported that on Dec. 16 between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., a burgundy Chevy sedan was burglarized in the 400 block of E. Osage Ln. The car was reportedly parked in the apartment complex parking lot, and the owner carried packages into their residence, leaving other packages in the unlocked vehicle. When they returned, the remaining packages were gone, in addition to an iPhone, camera, scanner and infared heat gun. All of the items were valued at $1,600.

A victim reported that sometime between Dec. 15 at 9:30 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 10:30 p.m. a silver 1996 Honda sedan was burglarized in the 1300 block of N. Baldwin Ct. The victim stated they left the car parked, and when they returned found a Magellan GPS unit valued at $100 and a pair of brown gloves, valued at $25, missing. No forced entry was observed, and the victim reported the car may have been left the car unlocked.

A victim reported that sometime between Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 7:30 a.m. a silver 2012 Nissan SUV was burglarized in the 400 block of W. Mohagoney Ct. Taken was $400 from the center console, a coffee gift basket (unknown value) and $50 from a Christmas card.

Theft

A victim reported that on December 17 between 4:30 p.m. and 5:58 p.m., a package left at the residence in the 800 block of E. Lilly Ln. was stolen. The victim reported to police that a number of packages have been stolen under the same circumstances over the last few months.

Retail Theft and Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol

A theft was reported at Mariano’s, 545 N. Hicks Rd. on Dec. 16 at 1:52 p.m. Loss prevention observed Simon Muller, 20, of the 100 block of E. Briarwood Dr. take a bottle of Bacardi Spice Rum off the shelf, concealed it on his person, and leave the store without paying for it. Loss prevention stopped Muller, and detected an odor of alcohol on his breath. Muller was charged with misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor underage consumption of alcohol.

Residential Burglary

A victim reported a home burglary that occurred sometime between Dec. 15 at 4:30 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 3 a.m. in the 1800 block of Green Ln. South. After exiting the apartment, the victim did not lock the dead bolt, and when they returned they found baby food, a silver wedding band, a portable DVD player (valued at $150) $130 in U.S. currency and a $200 coach wallet missing.

Driving Under the Influence

Reuben Castillo-Frausto, 34, of the 3400 block of W. 125th St., Alsip, was stopped at 4:25 a.m. on Dec. 16 at Northwest Hwy. and Rohlwing Rd. Castillo-Frausto was charged with disobeying a traffic control device, DUI and DUI with a blood alcohol limit of more than .08.

Richard R. Nogabich, 38, of the 900 block of N. Countryside Dr. was stopped at 12:18 a.m. by police in the 1300 block of Smith St. Nogabich was charged with improper lane usage, DUI and DUI with a blood alcohol limit of more than .08.
