Obituary: John Irving Buckles of Palatine

John Irving Buckles of Palatine passed away on July 20.

John Irving Buckles of Palatine was born January 13, 1934 in Dearborn, MI, and he passed away peacefully July 20, 2013 at the Claremont in Buffalo Grove.

John was member of the First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights.  He was a First Lt. in the U.S. Army having served in the occupation of Korea.  In addition, he was Past Master of the Arlington Heights Masonic Lodge and a member of the Knights Templer.  John particularly enjoyed outdoor activities and was a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 286 in Palatine.  He enjoyed bird watching with many friends, and traveled in the United States and abroad.  

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Buckles (nee Smith), children, David (Emmy) Buckles and Eleanor Buckles; grandchildren, Molly and David Buckles; and his brother, Jerold (Carol) Buckles.

John was preceded in death by his son, John Fairbanks Buckles and his parents, John D. and Alice (nee Keinath) Buckles.

Memorial services for John will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights, 1903 E. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights, IL 60004.  Private family inurnment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington, IL.
