Obituary: Geraldine “Gerry” Gurbacki, Palatine Physical Education Teacher and Guidance Counselor

Visitation will be held later today and a funeral Thursday for Geraldine "Gerry" Burbacki of Palatine. She was a physical education teacher and guidance counselor in numerous Palatine schools over the last 38 years.

Visitation for Geraldine “Gerry” Gurbacki, 78, of Palatine, will be held later today from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine. 

Born May 10, 1934 in Chicago, Gerry passed away December 9, 2012. 

Gerry was a physical education teacher and guidance counselor in Palatine for 38 years at a number of schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Raphael Gurbacki and her brother Allan Gurbacki.  Gerry is survived by many dear friends.  

Prayers will begin Thursday, December 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Smith Corcoran Funeral Home, and proceed to St. Theresa Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.
