Erika A. Hummel, 78, a resident of Lake Zurich and formerly of Palatine.
Erika was born on January 24, 1935 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late Erik and Kate (nee Bahl) Beck. She passed away on Saturday, February 23rd at her home in Lake Zurich.
Erika will be remembered for her contagious laughter and smile, bringing joy to all those around her. She also enjoyed playing many different sports. Erika had worked alongside of her husband as a secretary for 35 years in their family construction business.
Erika was the beloved wife of 48 years of Robert L. Hummel; loving mother of Jodi (James) Rudzena and Rob (Dana) Hummel; cherished grandmother of Emily, Katie, Anna, Erika, Johnny, Lea, Jimmy and Jesse; dear aunt of Terri, Drew, Dawn and Troy.
The Hummel family gives a very special thanks to Jania Pagac who was Erika’s caregiver for almost 2 years. She was a companion and friend to Erika and the entire family.
Visitation for Erika A. Hummel will be held on Tuesday, February 26th from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich.
In state at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Road, Palatine on Wednesday, February 27th from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Wheeling Township Cemetery in Arlington Heights.
In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Erika would be appreciated for Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.
