Michael Stewart Peckos, 49

Visitation will be held for Michael Stewart Peckos, 49 of Palatine on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine. The funeral will be on Friday, Sept. 14 at 9:30 a.m. from Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Highway to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 455 N. Benton Street in Palatine for Mass at 10 a.m.

Michael was born on Dec. 23, 1962 and died on Sunday, Sept. 9 2012 after a yearlong heroic battle with pancreatic cancer.

Beloved son of the late James and the late Frances Peckos, Loving brother of James, John (Theresa) and Steven Peckos and brother-in-law of Melody Peckos, Dear uncle of Gregory, Lucas, Valentine, Michael, Gabrielle and Chloe, and the Fond nephew of Antoinette and Tony Diliberto. 

Michael was a graduate of Lane Tech High School.  For a short while he worked as a souvenir vendor at Wrigley Field.  He was a proud and respected employee of Dominick’s Food Stores for nearly 30 years. Michael took great pride in his home, his church and caring for his recently departed mother.  In fact, Michael took great pride in just about everything he did with a care and meticulousness that was beyond reproach.  Michael loved his Cubbies and the world is a sadder place with his passing.
