Michael R. Jackson Moore, 17, was a Palatine High School Junior

Michael R. Jackson Moore, 17, of Palatine, passed away at home on Friday, January 24th, 2014.

Beloved son of Trea (Marco Castellon) Jackson; loving brother of Ashley, Samantha, Maddie and Jonathan Jackson; dear grandson of Cayetana Fernandez and God brother of Rebecca Robinson. Michael is also survived by many other loving friends and classmates.

Michael was a junior at Palatine High School and he will be remembered as having a great love of life and he truly adored his sisters and newborn baby brother. Michael had a passion for life and made the most of every moment of every day. He also enjoyed watching CSI and working on his computer.

Michael had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a disorder that results in muscle degeneration. His mother, Trea Jackson, said her son was diagnosed at 5, then lost his ability to walk at 6. Last year, Michael suffered cardiac and respiratory failure.

Regardless of the challenges he faced, Trea said Michael always had a great attitude and "never complained."

"Everybody loved him."

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., in Palatine from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday,also at the funeral home.Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, in Palatine.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Michael, would be appreciated for the family.
