Robert "Bob" L. Bergman, 65, a lifelong resident of Palatine and former Illinois State Representative and Palatine Township Highway Commissioner, passed away Friday, Nov. 29.
Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 3 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 8 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
Bergman graduated from Palatine High School and joined his father in the family trucking business, Bergman Trucking. He later was elected Palatine Township Highway Commissioner, a position he held for 24 years.
Bergman went on to work for the Illinois Secretary of State and later served one term as a State Representative for Illinois. Following his service to the State of Illinois, Bergman began working for Arrow Road Construction where he remained until his retirement in 2012, all the while maintaining local political consultation and campaign management.
Bergman, born Nov. 10, 1948, in Elgin, is the son of Vernon and late Marion (nee Luerssen) Bergman.
He is survived by his dear father Vernon Bergman; loving children Jessica, Robert and Daniel Bergman and Jennifer Schwartz; cherished grandchildren Annabelle and Riley Bergman, Malcolm and Dominic Filichia, Griffin and Hunter Schwartz; siblings Daniel (Gayle), Tom (Lis) and the late John Bergman; and his nieces and nephew Cari, Amanda, Katie, Thomas, Kathy, Karla, Derik and Shane.
