Edna McEwen

Two-time cancer survivor and single mother.

Edna McEwen passed away peacefully Sunday night at 11:30 PM.  Single mother.  Two-time cancer survivor.  She died in peace.  So much to say about her life and her legacy.  Edna had a strong faith in God that transcended from "religion" to "relationship." She was full of joy and a peace that passes all understanding thanks to Jesus Christ.

Edna McEwen was born in Martin, TN and raised in Corinth, MS.  This southern belle had a passion for the big city and lived in St. Louis, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Memphis, before calling Chicago home since 1975.  Edna’s professional career as a legal secretary and book keeper spanned forty years with her last job at Chicago’s legendary Winston & Strawn law firm.  “Peggy” as her relatives called her, had a true zest for life.  Her passions were reading, writing, singing, playing the piano and world travel.  Edna’s main focus in life, however, was raising her son as a single mother.

Edna leaves her only son Stephen, her daughter in-law Robin, her sister Wanda, and four wonderful grandchildren Kailie, Grace, Levi and Joshua.
