Doreen E. White, 61

A celebration of Doreen White's life is planned for April 21.

Doreen E. White, 61, died March 30 after a brief illness. She was a loving and fun-loving friend, a dedicated teacher and a community volunteer. Her passions were animals, nature, and making people laugh.

Doreen was born in Chicago, Sept. 28, 1950, to the late John W. White and Eleanor E. White (Swienke) of Daytona Beach Shores, FL. She graduated from Luther North High School and Northeastern Illinois University and moved to Palatine in 1972 where she taught fifth and sixth grades at Lake Louise School until retiring in 2005. She remained active at Lake Louise as a volunteer and also volunteered for a brief time at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Palatine and a member and past president of the Palatine Historical Society.

Doreen is survived by her mother, her sister Charlene D. Duroni (Charles) of Lancaster, Pa., her brother Glenn L. White (Susan) of Savanna, IL, her niece Michele K. Byers (Robert) of Lancaster, Pa., her nephew Lance E. Duroni (Brittany) of Philadelphia, and two great nieces and four great nephews.

A celebration of Doreen's life is planned for Saturday, April 21 at noon at Sam’s Restaurant of Arlington Heights, 1863 W. Central Road, Arlington Heights.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any animal welfare organization or a charity of the donor's choice.

Those of us who knew and loved Doreen will miss her laughter, her huge heart and her generous spirit.
